Job interviews: wrong turns both sides often take

It’s been a long time since I had my first job interview as a candidate in 1992. I was still serving my military and I had sent out tens of applications not keeping track of them really. I was called to a job interview and I had no clue what it was about. The lady running the job interview asked me which one from the two roles they were seeking I was interested in and I said: “both”. No wonder why the interview lasted about ten minutes only. Ever since, I have been many times in both sides of the table and I am often surprised with the way either job interviewers or job candidates handle things.
